Corn application

We studied the effects of SYNTROPHY on field corn, at our research farm in Half Moon Bay, CA, applying one treatment of SYNTROPHY on the field corn after germination.

After harvest, our results showed that ears from SYNTROPHY-treated plants had more uniformly filled kernels and rows than the control plants (untreated with SYNTROPHY) (Figure 1); additionally, an improvement of root biomass from germination through maturation was observed (Figure 2); and an increase of nutrients, especially of the secondary (calcium, magnesium, and sulfur) and micro-nutrients (copper, iron, manganese, zinc, etc.).*

Finally, we observed an increase of 15% more ears per plant with an enhancement of the weight per ear of 6%; and a 27% increase of the sugar content (kernel brix test), in SYNTROPHY-treated plants when compared to control plants.

This year, we are performing a SYNTROPHY application on a well appreciated heirloom bi-color sweet corn, Honey and Cream, and we will post our results as soon as available.
